Support Programs for Children with Special Developmental Disabilities

Children with pervasive developmental disorders such as Asperger’s syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), disintegrative disorder, atypical autism, Rett syndrome and children with developmental delay, neurologically damaged or physical – cognitive problems, learning disabilities, attention disorders, hyperactivity, giftedness and talents are children who show different development in terms of individual characteristics and educational competencies. . These “special” or differently developing children need to be supported and benefit from special support programs in order to participate in social life, family, home and school; in short, in society.

The quality of life of the child living in sensory problems, communication inadequacy, speech/comprehension-learning-self-expression problems, cognitive problems experienced by children with special development will be very affected by this situation. This situation may turn into problems in daily life activities and then into behavioral problems. In active, meaningful and enjoyable ways, the child is enabled to respond to sensory inputs in a functional way. Over time, the child learns to use the skills acquired at home, at school and in the social environment. The child is helped to gain independence in many areas such as socialization, eating, dressing, sleeping patterns, self-expression and to improve the quality of life.

Noah’s Ark Family Counseling Center experts provide children with the support they need on this journey with scientific methods appropriate to their competencies and developmental characteristics. Thanks to these practices that start at a young age, very important steps are taken for them to learn, understand and become a part of society.

Our support programs provide services in different areas according to need. Our support programs are offered to children according to their age and needs through scientifically proven methods. Sometimes we use games and toys to help children express themselves, communicate, solve their problems and change their negative behaviors. Other times, different programs/methods are used to help special children overcome their problems.

Such programs are also implemented with children with emotional and behavioral problems such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, depression, obsessions, anxiety disorders, sexual and physical abuse, trauma, divorce, perfectionist attitudes, bedwetting, masturbation, eating and sleeping.

When you apply to our center, your child’s situation is discussed with the family, the necessary assessments are made for the child, interviews are held with the doctor consulted by the family, and interviews are held with the teachers if the child is of pre-school or school age. Then, an individualized support program is prepared to meet all the emotional, sensory, communicative, cognitive, social and academic needs of the child and implemented through scientifically proven methods

While creating the programs, the needs of the child, his/her family and environment are taken into consideration and these practices continue in every necessary environment such as home, school and other social life areas. All problems experienced by the child are addressed one by one. As soon as possible, efforts are made to ensure the child’s active participation in the society, his/her ability to communicate with his/her peers and to be in the same situation.

In the programs implemented at the center, cooperation is established with the teacher, school and family. Home programs are also created in line with the wishes of the families.

The intensity of the programs varies in proportion to the needs of the child.
